Hi, I’m Ian Janoska! I’m a photographer and filmmaker with a deep love for outdoor photography and capturing real moments in natural environments. My work includes both personal and commissioned projects, all rooted in authenticity, natural light, and storytelling.
Based in Northern Nevada, I spend much of my time photographing people and stories in the outdoors — where movement, light, and environment come together naturally. A large portion of my work is self-initiated and driven by exploration. I’m especially drawn to capturing individuals in both portraiture and motion, using landscapes as a backdrop to add depth, energy, and emotion to each image.
I find the most compelling locations in outdoor and public spaces — open landscapes, mountains, deserts, lakes, and places where people naturally interact with their surroundings. Being outside allows moments to unfold organically, and I approach each shoot with a documentary mindset, letting the environment guide the story.
My commissioned work also includes studio and controlled-environment photography, where I focus on intentional composition, lighting, and subtle styling. Even in the studio, I aim to create images that feel natural and connected rather than overly posed, often drawing inspiration from the tones and textures of the outdoors.
At the heart of my work is a love for exploration and genuine connection. Whether I’m documenting a personal project or collaborating with a client, my goal is always to create imagery that feels real, timeless, and true. If you’re interested in working together or being part of an upcoming project, I’d love to connect.
